Tribe HQ LLC, doing business as TRIBE ("TRIBE," "we," "us," or "our"), located at 4034 Endurance Trl, Wilmington, NC 28412, operates tribehq.co and the private founder community available through it. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our application and contact forms, our email and SMS messaging, and our events.

If you have questions about anything here, email marketing@tribehq.co.

The short version

  • We collect what you give us on our forms, plus standard website usage data.
  • We use it to review applications, run the community, improve the site, and measure our marketing.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
  • We never share your mobile number or SMS consent with anyone. That data stays with us and our messaging provider, full stop.
  • You can opt out of marketing email with the unsubscribe link in any message, and out of SMS by replying STOP.

Information you give us

When you apply to join TRIBE, join a waitlist, submit a review, or contact us, we collect the information you enter on the form. Depending on the form, that includes:

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Company name, website, and business details such as revenue range and industry
  • City or chapter of interest
  • How you heard about us, and any referral details you provide
  • Anything else you choose to write in a free-text field

If you become a member, we also keep records related to your membership, billing, event registrations, and participation.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit tribehq.co, we and our providers collect standard technical and usage information through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies:

  • Pages viewed, time on page, scroll and click behavior, and the path you take through the site
  • Referring website and campaign parameters such as UTM tags
  • Approximate location derived from IP address, device type, operating system, and browser
  • Whether you arrived from an email, an ad, or a search result

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them in three ways:

  • Strictly necessary. Required for the site to load, stay secure, and remember basic preferences. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics. Help us understand how people find and use the site so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4, deployed through Google Tag Manager.
  • Advertising. Let us measure ad performance and show relevant ads to people who have visited the site. We use the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tags, also deployed through Google Tag Manager.

We also use HubSpot, our customer relationship and marketing platform, which sets cookies to recognize returning visitors, attribute form submissions to the marketing that brought you here, and manage our email program.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block or delete them. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies will not break the site. You can also opt out of Google Analytics specifically using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising and analytics

We advertise on Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Those platforms may use cookies and pixels on our site to measure whether an ad led to a form submission and to show our ads to people who have visited tribehq.co or who resemble our existing audience. This is sometimes called retargeting or cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may also provide hashed contact information to those platforms so they can match it to their own users for measurement and audience purposes. We do not provide your information to them to use for their own independent marketing.

You can manage ad personalization directly with each platform:

How we use your information

  • To review and respond to membership applications
  • To operate the community, including chapters, events, retreats, and the annual Summit
  • To respond to your questions and provide support
  • To send marketing and community emails that you have opted into, and to send transactional messages about your application, membership, or event registration
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the website and our programming
  • To measure which marketing channels bring the right people to us
  • To protect the community, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with the law

SMS and text messaging

If you give us your mobile number and check the SMS consent box on one of our forms, we may text you as part of the application process. Specifically:

  • What we send. Messages about your application and next steps, such as scheduling a conversation. SMS is used during the application process only.
  • Message frequency. Message frequency will vary.
  • Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier, not TRIBE, charges these.
  • Opting out. You can reply STOP to any message at any time to stop receiving texts from us. Reply HELP for assistance, or email marketing@tribehq.co.
  • Carrier liability. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Consent is never required. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of applying to or joining TRIBE.

We do not share your mobile number, your SMS consent, or your opt-in status with any third party for their marketing or promotional purposes. This information is used solely by Tribe HQ LLC and the messaging provider that delivers texts on our behalf.

Email marketing

We send community updates, event invitations, and marketing emails to people who have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect promptly. We will still send you transactional messages related to an active application, membership, or event registration.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We do share information with service providers who help us run TRIBE, and only to the extent they need it to do that work. These include:

  • HubSpot for our CRM, forms, and email marketing
  • Google for analytics, tag management, and advertising
  • Meta for advertising and measurement
  • Netlify for website hosting
  • Payment processors, event and venue partners, and our SMS messaging provider, where relevant to a specific transaction or event

These providers are bound by agreements that limit how they may use the information. We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights and safety of TRIBE, our members, or others. If TRIBE is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, and we will notify you if that materially changes how your information is handled.

Community confidentiality

TRIBE is a private community. What members share inside meetings, retreats, Slack, and events is expected to stay in the room. Information you volunteer to other members is shared by you, not by us, and this policy does not govern what other members do with it. Our expectations for member conduct are set out in the Terms of Service.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access. Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
  • Correction. Ask us to fix inaccurate information.
  • Deletion. Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal and operational exceptions.
  • Portability. Receive your information in a portable format.
  • Opt out of targeted advertising and of any sale or sharing of personal information.
  • Non-discrimination. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these, email marketing@tribehq.co from the address you gave us, or tell us enough that we can locate your record. We will respond within the time your state's law requires, generally 45 days, and we may need to verify your identity first. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission.

California residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, you have the rights listed above, plus the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of parties we disclose it to. Those categories are described throughout this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold personal information in the preceding twelve months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. Our use of advertising cookies for retargeting may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. To opt out, disable advertising cookies in your browser, use the platform opt-outs linked above, or email us and we will honor the request. We also honor Global Privacy Control signals where required.

Other US states

Residents of states including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia have comparable rights under their own privacy laws. Use the same email address above and we will apply your state's requirements. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will provide our reasoning along with information about contacting your state attorney general.

Data retention

We keep application and member information for as long as needed to operate the community and for a reasonable period afterward for our records, legal obligations, and dispute resolution. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information. Analytics data is retained according to the default retention settings of the platforms we use.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections across the site and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

TRIBE is built for business owners and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

Our site links to other websites, including member companies, partners, and venues. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top, and for material changes we will provide additional notice, such as an email or a notice on the site.
